Jakarta, Indonesia (August 13, 2024) – The OIC Youth Indonesia and the Indonesia National Youth Council (KNPI) were honored to be received in audience by His Excellency Sergei Tolchenov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Indonesia, at his official residence today.
The meeting served as a platform to discuss the longstanding cooperation between the Indonesian youth sector and the Russian Embassy, which dates back to the post-reformation era in 1999. Mr. Tantan Taufiq Lubis, Chairman of the KNPI, emphasized the council’s role as an umbrella organization representing diverse youth groups across Indonesia and its continued collaboration with the Russian Embassy.
Ms. Astrid Nadya Rizqita, President of OIC Youth Indonesia, highlighted the organization’s reintroduction and its growing influence among Indonesian youth. The meeting was attended by representatives from various youth organizations, including Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama, GMNI, Islamic Boarding Schools, and University Student Councils.
OIC Youth Indonesia has been actively engaged in youth development since the early 2000s. Recent highlights include the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the first World Youth Festival and participation in the Meeting of the International Association of Children Organizations.
Both organizations expressed their keen interest in further strengthening cooperation with the Russian Embassy in Jakarta on various youth-related initiatives.
